Why Accounting?

Accounting is the universal language of business, providing the foundation for critical financial decisions that drive organizational success. Skilled accounting professionals serve as trusted advisors who transform complex financial information into actionable insights for managers, investors, and stakeholders. With businesses increasingly requiring transparency, compliance, and strategic financial guidance, the demand for accounting expertise continues to grow across all industries.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, accounting professionals earn competitive salaries ranging from $70,000 to $90,000, with approximately 130,800 openings for accountants and auditors projected each year over the decade. The field is projected to offer strong job security with a growth rate of 4-6% annually, reflecting the essential role accounting plays in organizational operations and regulatory compliance.

Why the Rize Accounting Program?

The Rize Accounting program addresses the key challenges facing accounting education today while preparing students for the evolving demands of modern accounting practice. As accounting departments nationwide struggle with rapidly changing CPA requirements, declining CPA participation rates, and shifting employer demands, this program offers strategic advantages that position graduates for success across diverse career paths. It is designed to be responsive and up-to-date, preparing students for new exam structures and emerging certification requirements while maintaining comprehensive coverage of core competencies.

Unlike programs solely focused on Big Four accounting firm placement, this curriculum prepares versatile accountants who can excel in internal audit, managerial accounting, financial analysis, corporate finance, and specialized areas like fraud examination and tax planning. Students gain exposure to multiple certification pathways, ensuring they can adapt to changing career interests and market demands while meeting the strong ongoing demand for skilled accounting professionals across various roles.

The program directly addresses the skill needs that recruiters consistently cite by integrating high-demand competencies throughout the curriculum rather than treating them as add-ons. Data analytics capabilities are woven into financial reporting and auditing courses, critical thinking skills are developed through complex case studies and professional judgment scenarios, and ethical reasoning is embedded across all courses. Through progressive complexity across ten core courses, students move beyond memorizing rules to developing the capabilities that employers value most — analytical thinking, professional skepticism, and the ability to navigate uncertainty — capabilities that will distinguish graduates in competitive job markets.

Certifications

This program provides foundational knowledge aligned with certification content areas. Most professional certifications require additional dedicated exam preparation beyond coursework for optimal success. Certifications become increasingly valuable as students specialize and grow in their professional careers.

This program is designed with an awareness of key industry credentials such as the CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), and EA (Enrolled Agent).
